Multi-Entity & Intercompany

For groups running several Xero and MYOB files

Consolidated reporting across multiple Xero and MYOB entities

One Group, Several Sets of Books

Groups grow one entity at a time: a trading company, a property trust, a second site, an acquisition. Each has its own Xero or MYOB file, its own chart of accounts and its own way of recording intercompany charges. Before long, month-end means a spreadsheet nobody else understands and intercompany balances that never quite agree.

We fix the process behind it: matching intercompany transactions, mapping every file to one group chart, and producing consolidated reporting with eliminations, across Xero and MYOB. See also our guide to multi-entity reporting with Xero or MYOB.

When Group Reporting Gets Complicated

Apps handle simple group reporting well. These are the signs yours has gone past that.

  • Intercompany loans and recharges never agree between entities
  • Month-end means exporting every file into a consolidation spreadsheet
  • Some entities are in Xero and some in MYOB
  • Each entity’s chart of accounts has drifted apart
  • Eliminations are worked out by hand, and differently each time
  • The group report needs job, stock or operational data too
  • You are adding entities, or buying businesses, and it is about to get worse

What We Do

Intercompany matching

Both sides of each intercompany transaction raised and reconciled together, with exceptions flagged each month instead of found at year-end.

Group chart mapping

Every entity’s accounts mapped to one group chart, so reports compare like with like even when the files differ.

Consolidated reporting

Group profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow with eliminations, across Xero and MYOB, refreshed automatically.

History clean-up

Old intercompany differences investigated and corrected with your accountant, so the automation starts from a clean position.

Operational data alongside

Jobs, stock, sites or headcount joined to the financials where the group report needs more than the ledger.

New entities and acquisitions

A repeatable way to bring a new entity or acquired business into the group reporting, including migrating its accounts if needed.

Multi-Entity FAQs

If every entity is in Xero, the charts of accounts line up and you mainly need a group profit and loss, a consolidation app (or Xero’s own consolidation on its higher plans) may be all you need, and we will say so. Custom work makes sense when entities are split across Xero and MYOB, intercompany balances never agree, charts of accounts differ, or the group report has to include data from outside the ledger.

Yes. We bring both into one reporting model, map each file’s accounts to a group chart, and apply eliminations, so the group view does not depend on everyone using the same software.

We work out why they differ (timing, missing invoices, different accounts, GST treatment, manual journals), clean up the history, and then automate matching so both sides are raised and reconciled together each month, with exceptions flagged instead of found at year-end.

Not necessarily. A mapping layer handles differences between files. That said, if you are adding entities or restructuring, aligning the charts is worth doing, and we can plan it with your accountant.

No. This is management reporting and month-end process for running the group. Your accountant still prepares statutory accounts and tax, and usually finds the cleaner intercompany position makes year-end easier.

It depends on how many entities and systems are involved and how messy the history is. We look at your setup, then give you a fixed quote. The first conversation is a free initial chat.
