Accounting data moved from Xero into MYOB

Going Back Is More Common Than You Think

Plenty of businesses move to Xero and then find it doesn’t suit them: stock, jobs, reporting or the way the team works fitted MYOB better. Moving back is usually a contained job, especially if your old MYOB file still holds your history up to the day you switched.

We read your transactions from Xero through its API, map accounts, tax codes, contacts and items to your MYOB setup, and write them into MYOB AccountRight or MYOB Business through MYOB’s API. Then we check the trial balance and GST in MYOB against Xero and what you lodged, so you know nothing was lost.

Since 17 June 2026, current versions of AccountRight only work with company files stored online. If your old MYOB file was kept offline on a PC or server, it needs to be moved online first, and we can help with that too.

Is This You?

Common reasons businesses move from Xero back to MYOB.

  • You used MYOB for years and Xero hasn’t suited how your business runs
  • Stock, jobs or reporting worked better in MYOB
  • Your team is spending longer on the accounts, not less
  • Your old MYOB file still has your history and you want everything back in one place
  • Payroll, GST or reporting since the change needs to line up with what was lodged
  • You want it done properly, with every balance checked, rather than retyped

What We Do

A checked move, not a retype.

Check your MYOB file

Confirm which MYOB you’re going back to, that your old file is complete to the date you switched, and that it’s stored online so it can be used and connected.

Map Xero to MYOB

Accounts, tax codes, tracking categories, contacts and items from Xero matched to your MYOB setup, with anything new since the switch agreed with you and your accountant.

Bring the transactions across

Invoices, bills, credit notes, payments, bank transactions and journals written into MYOB through the APIs, each tagged to its source so nothing is duplicated.

Handle payroll and GST

Year-to-date payroll figures carried across for Single Touch Payroll, and GST checked against any BAS you lodged from Xero.

Reconcile and sign off

Trial balance, receivables, payables and GST compared between Xero and MYOB at the cut-over date, and any difference explained before you go live.

Keep an archive

A complete export of your Xero data and attachments kept for your records and your auditor, before your Xero subscription ends.

Common Questions

Yes. Your transactions are read from Xero, mapped to your MYOB setup and written into MYOB, then checked against the trial balance and GST. If your old MYOB file still holds your history, usually only the period since you switched needs to come across.

If you’re going back to your original MYOB file, the history is already there. If you’re starting a new MYOB file, you can bring across several years, or opening balances with the old file kept as an archive. We’ll recommend what suits your records and reporting.

Since 17 June 2026, current versions of AccountRight only work with company files stored online, so an offline file needs to be moved online first. That is a standard step and we can help with it.

Payroll run in Xero since the switch is carried across as year-to-date figures so Single Touch Payroll and super stay correct. We check it with you and your payroll records.

We check the GST figures in MYOB against what was lodged, so your records match the ATO’s.

It depends on how much needs to come across and how your files are set up. We look at both, then give you a fixed quote. The first conversation is a free initial chat.
