Custom integration built on the MYOB API

Custom MYOB Integration, Entered Once

When you hire us for a MYOB integration, you get a working connection between MYOB and the other systems your business runs on, built on the MYOB API and looked after by the people who built it. Sales, purchases, payments, jobs and timesheets go into MYOB automatically, coded the way your accountant agreed, with an alert to a named person if anything needs attention. You get a fixed quote before we start, and we keep the integration working when MYOB changes.

In most businesses the real work happens somewhere else: a job or field system, an online store, a CRM, a rostering or stock system. Then someone types it all into MYOB again. It is slow, it causes errors, and month-end waits until it is done. A custom MYOB integration means the information is entered once, in the system where the work happens, and lands in your accounts without anyone touching it.

Looking for MYOB's API documentation to build it yourself? It's on MYOB's developer site, developer.myob.com. If you would rather have a MYOB developer build it and look after it for you, that's what we do.

Built and supported by Kenomont, with 20+ years building business systems and integrations for businesses across Australia.

Common MYOB Integrations

The connections businesses most often ask for, and what changes for you when they are in place.

Sales and orders

Orders and invoices from your sales or quoting system arrive in MYOB as invoices, with the right customer, items and tax codes. Payments are matched back so you can see who still owes you.

Job and field systems

Completed jobs become invoices, and costs are tagged to the right job or category in MYOB, so job profit reports reflect what really happened on site.

CRM

A won deal becomes a customer and an invoice in MYOB, and payment status goes back to the CRM, so sales can see who has paid without asking accounts.

Stock and inventory

Items, prices and stock levels kept in step between your warehouse or stock system and MYOB, so you are not selling stock you don't have.

Payroll and timesheets

Approved timesheets from your rostering or job system ready for payroll in MYOB, with hours tagged to jobs so labour cost shows up where it belongs.

Online store

Online orders, refunds and payment-provider fees recorded in MYOB as they happen, instead of someone working through a sales report at the end of the week.

Sound Familiar?

  • Invoices or sales retyped into MYOB from another system
  • Month-end waiting for someone to finish entering data
  • Duplicates, missing transactions or wrong tax codes
  • An app that only does half the job
  • An old integration nobody fully understands any more
  • More transactions than the team can keep up with

Already have an integration that has stopped syncing or keeps creating duplicates? See integration repair.

What You Get

  • Information entered once, in the system where the work happens
  • Transactions coded the way you and your accountant agreed
  • Jobs, categories and tax codes used the same way your team already uses them
  • No duplicates, even when a sync is re-run
  • An alert to a named person when something needs fixing, not silent gaps
  • Support after go-live from the people who built it, including when MYOB changes its API
  • A fixed quote after a free initial chat

Which MYOB Do You Use?

MYOB is a family of products, and each one connects differently. We work out which applies to you before designing anything.

MYOB Business and AccountRight

Most small and medium businesses on MYOB use one of these. Both connect through the MYOB Business API when the company file is online. If your AccountRight file only lives on a desktop, the usual first step is moving it online so it can be connected reliably.

MYOB Acumatica (formerly MYOB Advanced)

MYOB's cloud system for larger and growing businesses. It has its own API, separate from MYOB Business, and it can be extended, which suits more involved connections such as several entities or detailed stock and project tracking.

MYOB Exo and Greentree

Longer-standing systems that many mid-sized businesses still run. What can be connected depends on your version and how it is set up, so we check that first. If you are planning to move off Exo, see our MYOB Acumatica & EXO page.

Moving between MYOB products, or off Exo? See MYOB Acumatica & EXO migration and integration.

An App or a Custom Integration?

We would rather tell you an app will do than sell you work you don't need.

When You Don't Need Us

  • A marketplace app already connects your two systems and handles the way you work
  • You only need simple invoice totals passed across, without jobs, stock or categories
  • Volumes are low enough that a few minutes of entry each week is no real burden
  • Your MYOB partner or bookkeeper can set up an existing connector for you

If that sounds like you, MYOB's app marketplace is the cheaper route. In a free chat we will happily point you to it.

When Custom Makes Sense

  • There is no app for your system, or the app only does half the job
  • Transactions need to land against the right job, category or location, not just in a total
  • You run several MYOB company files or entities
  • Information has to flow both ways, such as payment status back to your CRM or job system
  • The other system is industry software, an in-house system or a database with no ready-made connector
  • Getting it wrong would be expensive: stock, payroll or customer billing

An Example: A Wholesaler on AccountRight

This is a made-up example to show how it works in practice. Picture a wholesaler that takes orders through an online store and from reps on the road, picks them in a warehouse system and keeps its accounts in AccountRight.

Before: each morning someone exports yesterday's orders and types the invoices into AccountRight. Stock levels in the warehouse system and MYOB drift apart. Online store payments arrive in the bank as lump sums with fees taken out, so reconciling them takes guesswork. Reps ring the office to ask whether a customer has paid before taking a new order. Month-end waits until the backlog is cleared.

After: dispatched orders become invoices in AccountRight automatically, with the right customer, items and tax codes. Stock levels stay in step. Payouts from the store are broken down into sales, refunds and fees so the bank reconciliation lines up. Reps can see a customer's payment status in their own system. If an order can't go through, for example a new customer not yet set up in MYOB, the bookkeeper gets an alert and fixes it at the source.

The same pattern fits a builder sending job costs and progress claims into MYOB, or a manufacturer recording finished production and materials used. The systems differ; the goal of entering things once does not.

How It Works

From the first conversation to an integration that runs without anyone thinking about it.

1. Free initial chat

You tell us what gets typed into MYOB by hand, where it comes from and what goes wrong. We tell you honestly whether an existing app will do. No cost and no obligation.

2. Scoping

We look at your MYOB file and the other system, and go through real examples of your transactions with you and your bookkeeper. We agree how each kind of record should land in MYOB.

3. Fixed quote

You get a fixed price, a timeframe and a plain description of what the integration will and won't do. Nothing starts until you are happy with it.

4. Build and test

We build the connection and test it on your own examples, including the awkward ones: credit notes, part payments, inactive accounts, closed periods. Your bookkeeper checks the results before go-live.

5. Go-live and support

We switch it on, watch the first runs closely and hand over a short guide to what it does and who gets alerted. After that we look after it, including when MYOB or the other system changes.

What we need from you

Someone who knows how the business uses MYOB and the other system, an MYOB Administrator user to authorise the connection, access to the other system, and your accountant's sign-off on how things are coded.

When MYOB Changes Its API

MYOB updates its API from time to time, and older integrations can stop working when it does. The September 2026 change to how integrations ask for permission to read and write data is a recent example: some businesses found their connections had quietly stopped syncing.

When we build and support your integration, keeping up with those changes is our job. We update the integration, test it against your data and let you know what changed. The same goes for changes on the other side, when your job, CRM or store system updates its own connection.

Integration already stopped? See why, and how to fix it.

Working With Your Bookkeeper, Accountant and MYOB Partner

An integration only helps if the numbers it creates are right, so the people who look after your books are part of the project from the start.

  • Your bookkeeper helps us map how each kind of transaction should land and checks the test results
  • Your accountant agrees the accounts, tax codes and jobs before go-live
  • If an MYOB partner looks after your MYOB setup, we work alongside them, not around them
  • Nobody has to learn new software; MYOB keeps working the way they know it

Who Does the Work

Kenomont is a business systems consultancy founded by Aaron Chambers, with more than 20 years of experience designing and building integrations. We work with businesses across Australia remotely, travelling when a project needs it.

Aaron has more than 20 years of experience building business systems and connecting them. That includes a forestry export and woodchip port management system for Australian forestry companies that we have run since 2012, weighbridge ticket data flowing into that platform from the weighbridge system since 2015, and a purchase order approval system for a large retirement living provider since 2014. Systems that have to keep running, year after year, are what we do.

Cost and Timing

Every MYOB integration is scoped first and given a fixed quote after a free initial chat. What drives the cost and timing:

  • How many systems and kinds of record are involved
  • Whether information flows one way or both ways
  • How much your MYOB setup relies on jobs, categories or several company files
  • Whether the other system has a usable way to connect
  • How tidy the existing data is, such as duplicate customers or old codes

Not sure yet what needs fixing? Our $5,000 Process & Systems Audit maps your processes and systems and gives you a written report on what to fix first. Otherwise, book a free initial chat.

The Technical Side

For whoever looks after your systems: the MYOB-specific details we handle so the integration keeps working.

Which MYOB you’re on

MYOB Business and AccountRight online files share one API; MYOB Acumatica (formerly MYOB Advanced) has a separate API with configurable endpoints. We confirm which applies before designing anything.

Authorisation and company files

Access is authorised through MYOB’s sign-in, with a registered developer key, and granted per company file by an Administrator user. Since 1 September 2026 integrations must ask for MYOB’s specific data permissions rather than the old all-access one. Tokens refresh automatically.

Invoice layouts

MYOB treats item, service, professional and time-billing invoices as different layouts. The integration has to send the right one for each kind of sale.

Jobs and categories

MYOB tracks profitability with jobs and categories. We map your other systems’ projects or departments onto them so job reports stay meaningful.

Call limits

MYOB limits how quickly an integration can make requests. Syncs are batched and paced so large volumes don’t fail.

No duplicates

Each record carries a reference to its source, so re-running a sync updates instead of duplicating.

How we design, test and hand over every integration is covered on our Xero & MYOB integration page.

Common Questions

It depends on how many systems are involved, whether information flows one way or both ways, and how much of your MYOB setup (jobs, categories, several company files) it has to respect. We look at your setup in a free initial chat, scope it, then give you a fixed quote, so you know the cost before any work starts. If you are not yet sure what needs fixing, our $5,000 Process & Systems Audit maps your processes and systems first.

It depends on the scope. A one-way sync of invoices from one system is a much smaller job than a two-way connection covering orders, stock and jobs across several company files. We give you a timeframe with the fixed quote, and we test on real examples of your transactions before go-live so the switch-over is calm.

No. We design, build and look after the integration. What we need from you is someone who knows how the business uses MYOB and the other system (usually you, your finance manager or your bookkeeper), an MYOB Administrator user to authorise the connection, and your accountant's agreement on how things are coded.

Usually, yes. MYOB Business and AccountRight online files share one API, and MYOB Acumatica (formerly MYOB Advanced) has its own. If your AccountRight file is desktop-only, the usual first step is moving it online. On the other side, most job, CRM, stock and online store systems have a way to connect. We check both ends in the first conversation and tell you plainly if something can't be done.

We update the integration. MYOB changes its API from time to time; the September 2026 change to data permissions stopped some older integrations syncing. When we build and support your integration, keeping it working through those changes is our job, not yours.

Yes, and we prefer to. Your bookkeeper knows how transactions should land, your accountant signs off the coding, and if you have an MYOB partner looking after your MYOB setup, we work alongside them. We build the connection; they keep doing what they already do well.

Sometimes. MYOB's app marketplace covers many common connections. If one fits, we will tell you and point you to it, because it will usually be cheaper. A custom integration makes sense when there is no app, the app only does half the job, or your setup has jobs, categories or several companies the app can't handle.

It's logged and flagged, for example an inactive account, a closed period or a missing contact, and either retried automatically or sent to a named person to fix. Nothing is silently dropped.

MYOB gives API keys to registered developers through its developer site (developer.myob.com). Each company file then has to be authorised by one of its Administrator users before an integration can read or write to it. We handle the developer side and walk your administrator through authorising it.
