Xero API Integration

Connect any system to Xero — built properly on the Xero API

Custom integration built on the Xero API

When the Xero App Store Doesn't Have Your App

Xero's marketplace covers a lot of common software. But if your system isn't there, the app only does half the job, or you run software built just for your business, you need an integration written directly against the Xero API.

We build those integrations: secure, authorised connections that create and read records in Xero on your behalf, follow your chart of accounts and tax codes, and are designed to keep running as your volumes grow.

What the Xero API Covers

Almost everything you can do in Xero by hand can be done through the API.

Reports

What Matters When Building on Xero

The details that separate an integration that works on day one from one that keeps working.

Authorisation per organisation

Each Xero organisation authorises the connection, and access tokens refresh automatically. One integration can serve several organisations — useful for groups of companies.

Rate limits

Xero limits how many API calls each organisation can make per minute and per day. We batch and queue requests so busy periods don’t cause failures.

Changes in Xero

Some record changes can be pushed to the integration as they happen; others are picked up by checking what’s changed since the last sync.

Lock dates and periods

Records dated into a locked period are rejected by Xero. We catch these and route them for review instead of letting them disappear.

Tax and tracking

Amounts can be tax-inclusive or exclusive, and Xero allows two active tracking categories. Both are mapped deliberately so reports come out right.

No duplicates

Each record carries a reference to its source, so re-running a sync updates instead of duplicating.

How we design, test and hand over every integration is covered on our Xero & MYOB integration page.

Xero API FAQs

No. A private integration that only connects your own Xero organisation (or your group’s organisations) doesn’t need to be listed in the Xero App Store. Listing is only for apps sold to other Xero customers.

Yes. Invoices, bills and journals are created with the account codes, tax rates and tracking categories you already use in Xero, mapped and agreed with your accountant up front.

Yes. A single integration can be authorised for several organisations and keep each one’s data separate — a common need for groups and multi-entity businesses.

It’s logged and flagged — for example a locked period, a missing account code or an archived contact — and either retried automatically or routed to a person to fix. Nothing is silently dropped.

Yes. Balances, transactions and standard reports can be pulled on a schedule into a dashboard or data warehouse, so reporting doesn’t depend on exporting spreadsheets.
