Ready for AI Starts With Your Processes and Data
Most AI readiness checks look at software: licences, security settings and who can see which files. That's IT work, and it matters. But it doesn't tell you whether AI will actually save your team time, or whether it will make confident mistakes with data that doesn't match from one system to the next.
Our AI readiness assessment looks at the work itself. We map how jobs, orders, invoices and approvals move through your business, where information is retyped between systems, and whether the data is clean enough to rely on. Then we tell you plainly which tasks AI genuinely helps with, where a simple rule would do the job better, and where a person must stay in charge.
It's delivered through our fixed-price $5,000 Process & Systems Audit, so you get a written report you can act on, whichever AI tool you end up using.
From 10 December 2026, many businesses must explain automated decisions in their privacy policy. See what counts.
What We Look At
Six questions that decide whether AI will help or just add another thing to check.
Where the work flows
Where information is retyped
Whether the data can be trusted
Where AI genuinely helps
Where a simple rule will do
Where a person stays in charge
New to the terms? See double data entry, master data and single source of truth in our plain-English glossary.
Not a Copilot or Microsoft 365 Check
Plenty of AI readiness assessments are really a check of your Microsoft setup. This one isn't.
What we assess
- How your key processes run, step by step
- The hand-offs between your systems and spreadsheets
- The quality of the data those processes depend on
- Which tasks suit AI, a simple rule, or neither
- Where a person must review or approve
What we don't do
- Microsoft 365 or Copilot licence and setup checks
- Security settings and file permission reviews
- AI training courses for staff
- Chatbots for your website or customers
- Picking an AI product before we know the task
If your question is about licences, security or permissions, your IT provider is the right call. If it's about whether AI can take real work off your team, read on.
What You Get at the End
A 2-hour discovery session, a written report of 10 to 15 pages and a 30-minute walkthrough call. When AI readiness is the question, the report answers it directly:
A map of how work and information move
Tasks sorted into three groups
Data to fix first
Where people must approve
A suggested first pilot
A prioritised roadmap
$5,000, fixed price. The report is yours whether or not you work with us afterwards. If you later want help with any of the fixes, we scope and quote that separately.
Why Not Just Use a Free Checklist?
Free AI readiness checklists and short online assessments ask general questions about strategy, culture and skills, then give you a score. They are a reasonable place to start thinking. What they can't do is look inside your business and see that a customer appears three ways in three systems, or that the month-end report depends on someone retyping figures from the job system.
That detail is what decides whether an AI step will work. So we spend the time on your actual processes and data, across all the systems involved, and give you written findings with a clear order of work. Sometimes the most useful finding is that you don't need AI for a task at all.
For the policy side, the Australian Government's National AI Centre publishes free Guidance for AI Adoption (October 2025), which replaced the earlier Voluntary AI Safety Standard. It comes with an AI policy template and an AI register template (business.gov.au). Our report fits alongside them: it shows which of your processes and data any AI would touch, and who checks the results.
How It Works
A clear picture within about two weeks of your discovery session.
Free initial chat
You tell us what you are hoping AI could do and which systems you use. We tell you plainly whether the assessment is worth it, or whether something simpler would do.
Discovery session (2 hours, over video)
We walk through your key processes and systems with the people who do the work: who does what, in which system, and where data gets retyped or checked.
Your written report (typically 5–7 business days)
We work through what we found and write it up in plain English, 10 to 15 pages.
Walkthrough call (30 minutes)
We take you through the findings and answer your questions. Then it’s up to you what happens next.
Who It's For
- Owners and finance or operations managers being asked “what are we doing about AI?”
- Businesses running on several systems plus spreadsheets, with no single picture of the numbers
- Teams who already tried an AI tool and found it didn't fit how the work actually happens
- Anyone who wants an independent view before paying for an AI product or project
When You Don't Need This
- You already know the one task you want to automate and the data is in good shape. Go straight to AI workflow automation.
- Your accounting or job software now does the task itself, such as reading supplier bills. Turn that feature on first.
- You mainly want staff to use ChatGPT or Copilot better. That's training, not a systems review.
- You run on one system with little retyping. There may not be enough to find.
If we think you don't need it, we'll say so in the free chat.
Who Does the Work
Kenomont is a business systems consultancy founded by Aaron Chambers, with more than 20 years of experience building and connecting business systems. We don't sell AI software, so our advice isn't tied to a product.
That experience includes a forestry export and port management system that receives ticket data from the weighbridge system, a purchase order approval system a large retirement living provider has used every day since 2014, and leading a multi-state aged care provider's move to Microsoft Azure as the client's technical adviser. Systems like these have to keep their data right year after year, which is exactly what AI depends on.
